Deepfakes, AI, and the Future of Trust: How Can We Tell What’s Real?Using Fossils to Reconstruct Earth’s History
April 10 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Artificial intelligence (AI) can now create realistic images, videos, and voices that look and sound real, but that doesn’t mean everything online is fake. In this talk, we’ll explore how deepfakes work, why some fake content is easy to spot while other examples are much harder, and what today’s detection tools can and cannot do. Through real-world examples and simple demonstrations, we’ll discuss how scientists are working to connect digital media back to the physical world to help restore trust. The goal is not fear, but understanding, so audiences of all ages can better navigate an AI-powered world.
