Science Park

The Junior League of Binghamton (JLB) is excited to announce that its next signature project will be an outdoor science park at the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center (KOSC) in Vestal.  The Science Park at KOSC will combine playtime and hands-on learning, with interactive science-and engineering-themed stations and an accessible telescope.  Students will be able to enjoy the fresh air and engage in physical activity, while discovering how science and engineering are part of their everyday lives.

The JLB and KOSC are creating this Science Park at KOSC to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.  They are seeking community partners who want to help bring this incredible project to life!  Local businesses, corporations, organizations, or individuals that are interested in working on or contributing to this project are asked to contact either Rachel Reilly O’Donnell at JLB or Drew Deskur at KOSC.

The Junior League of Binghamton, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, to developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  JLB’s most recent signature project was The Story Garden at the Discovery Center.  Please visit JLB’s website at to learn more about the Junior League.

The Kopernik Observatory and Science Center is an innovative learning institution that promotes interdisciplinary education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).  KOSC takes a multigenerational approach that emphasizes experiential, active learning and is a model of STEM education in our region.  KOSC helps the public interpret scientific findings, so they can make informed decisions about issues that affect them.  Please visit KOSC’s website at for more information about KOSC.
